This article examines recent developments in aviation climate policy. Among these developments are the European Union (EU) inclusion of CO2 emissions from all domestic and international flights within the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) starting in 2012 and the applicability of the ETS to non-EU airlines, and the attempt to reach agreements on aviation greenhouse gas emissions at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009. Also discussed is the introduction of aviation biofuels.
