Abstract:

In December 2008 the Teton Mountains near Jackson, Wyoming, experienced weather conditions, including a 30-in. snowfall, that pushed the mountain slopes to a critical condition for avalanches around the Teton Pass. This article provides a timeline that recounts the avalanche control measures and highway operations to deal with this event and to keep Teton Pass open to traffic.
