Abstract:

Research findings that suggest commuters will walk farther than the distances commonly used to map out a transit station's market reach have gained media attention. A longtime transit administrator and consultant maintains, however, that a sample bias in the study produced anomalies and the evidence is not sufficient to reject historical findings about walking behavior.
