Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: Transit and land use impacts have had a questionable linkage. Public transportation does not work automatically as a tool to assist and enhance the viability of a city. Transit can be a very special economic development tool that cannot stand by itself but that, if coordinated with other leverage mechanisms and if tuned to the strengths of the city, can be instrumental in the rebirth of central cities. Cooperative detailed planning before the route and mode are set and a created capacity to carry out these developments through a public and private partnership are needed. /Author/
