Abstract:

This article discusses the development of the Rail Planner's Handbook, which will assist planners of high-speed rail service in estimating the costs of right-of-way maintenance associated with the operation of high-speed passenger trains. The handbook is expected to become an indispensable aid in the planning of high-speed rail service throughout the United States.
