Abstract:

A multidisciplinary research project has examined ways to improve resilience, which can be measured by the functionality of an infrastructure system after a disaster and also by the time it takes for a system to return to previous levels of performance. In this article two project leaders present the components and dimensions of resilience and the implications for disaster response strategies.
