Accession Number: 01042145
Record Type: Component
Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: This paper briefly explains what agent-based modeling (ABM) is and what it can be used for, then reviews some of the many ABM applications developed so far in the transportation domain. The applications described present examples of the type of work that can be done rather than a comprehensive review. The individual sections of the paper define ABM, describe the types of problems to which ABM can be applied, discuss its strengths and weaknesses, provide some examples of transportation applications, and suggest some guidelines for those interested in developing ABM for a transportation application.
