This Transportation Research Record contains 9 papers on the subject of public transit. The papers are presented in two parts. Part 1 papers are concerned with bus rapid transit and high-occupancy toll lanes, federal funding of bus rapid transit, customer-derived bus performance measures, and the impact of traffic congestion on bus travel time. The papers in Part 2 discuss paratransit services, paratransit scheduling and dispatching systems, a demand forecasting model for paratransit services that is responsive to the Americans with Disabilities Act, midblock jeepney stops, and personnel recruitment, selection, and retention at a small rural transit system.
