Abstract:

In this sidebar article, the author reviews a workshop at the January 2002 TRB Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., that addressed the complex issue of railroad capacity and corridor planning. More than 80 participants discussed such questions as "What is railroad capacity and how does it fit into passenger rail corridor planning?" and "What are the elements that determine capacity, and how do they interact?"
