Abstract:

The implementation of knowledge in the areas of vehicle components such as the braking system, tires, and the measurement of the tire-road coefficient of friction are noted; and the need for further work in these areas is noted. The need is indicated for the international coordination of skid-prevention activities. The matter of laws governing minimum tread depth needs immediate attention. The coordination of activities related to the vehicle road and driver is essential if improvement is to be effected in this area of skid resistance.
