Accession Number: 00968552
Record Type: Component
Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: Sprawl has been the predominant form of growth in the United States for the past 50 years. A milestone study for the Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) developed measures to assess the costs and benefits of low-density sprawl compared with more compact, centrally oriented development in terms of land use, infrastructure, housing, and public services. The findings favor a managed growth approach. This article presents some of the study findings, which can be found in their entirety in TCRP Report 74.
