Turner, whose talent, dedication, and enormous contributions to transportation over a lifetime of work merit a lasting place in history. The articles in this edition of TR News spring from that session. This first article provides some insights by the Chair of the TRB Committee on Transportation History, Alan E. Pisarski, who had occasion to get to know Frank Turner personally.
