Abstract:

Interest in asset management has generated considerable activity in professional organizations, agencies, and supporting organizations. The status of several activities that have contributed to this increased level of activity is summarized. Also, the results of a survey of AASHTO member states that solicited responses to questions on the use of management tools, ranging from management systems to asset valuation and decision-making tools, are reported. The survey results support anecdotal evidence that there is a heightened awareness and activity level focused on the topic of asset management.
