Abstract:
This paper presents the results of an investigation undertaken in Kenya to examine the effects of various road, vehicle, and environmental parameters on some components of vehicle operating costs and compares them with the two main methods of estimating vehicle operating costs in less developed countries currently in use. All the components are defined in either quantity or nondimensional terms, and the actual cost is obtained by applying the appropriate unit costs prevailing at a particular time.
