Mary Lynn Tischer, Volpe National Transportation System Center, discusses asset management and how it fits into the long line of approaches developed to provide a more systematic way of thinking about transportation questions. She also reports on a survey by the AASHTO task force on asset management. Peter Kolakowski, Virginia Department of Transportation, presents Virginia's experience with asset management.
