Record Type: Component
Availability: N/AFind a library where document is available Abstract: Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the conference, indicating the conference format and report format. It also contains the executive summary of the conference, in which Henry Peyrebrune, Transportation Consultant, summarizes the proceedings. He states that the issues, conclusions, and research needs emerging from this 6th Conference on Refocusing Statewide Transportation Planning for the 21st Century reflect the broad agenda for transportation in this country since statewide planning in most departments of transportation is encompassing more and more issues and processes. Comparing the agenda and issues from this conference to the previous conference, which was held in 1996, he points out the many similarities but also some significant differences. Subheadings in the executive summary are: Policy Agenda for Statewide Planning in the Future; Context or Baseline for Statewide Planning in 1999; What's Happening Currently; and Future Challenges.
