Abstract:

These comments present the coal industry perspective on the National Research Council (NRC) report "Contaminated Marine Sediments in Ports and Waterways: Cleanup Strategies and Technologies" (March 1997). The interest of the coal industry is as a user or recipient of these sediments. The sediments are used for mine grouting and surface applications. The issues with which the industry is concerned are regulatory coherence between federal and state agencies, liability issues, and quality assurance and quality control issues.
