Abstract:

This presentation discusses some of the sediments issues that are important to the mining industry. For the author's industry, hard rock mining, the issues involve freshwater rather than marine issues, and metals instead of organics. The biggest issue is the tailings impoundment. The discussion is primarily concerned with risk assessment.
