IRRD contains references to published materials and research in progress. The IRRD computerized database has been in existence since 1972. Since that time, continual efforts have been made to improve and enhance the services offered by IRRD. More than 300,000 scientific references are now available electronically in the IRRD database through a number of complementary and accessible channels. Further details on IRRD are provided in this article, including its international cooperative efforts, its multilingual input and database, the subjects/fields covered, the Transport Research Laboratory's role as the IRRD English-language coordinating center, and IRRD access and availability.
