Abstract:

A manufacturer of a roadside barrier system discusses the situation that now exists for obtaining approval of his product, the Bridon wire rope safety fence, by comparing some of the test parameters for the United Kingdom, France, and in particular, the proposed European Committee for Normalization (CEN) standards and the U.S. National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 230 and NCHRP Report 350. He then comments on the benefits possible with harmonization of the various standards on a global basis.
