Abstract:

This abstract reports that findings from truck surveys produce reasonable trip rate data, but cannot estimate accurately the number of trucks/commercial vehicles in operation. A method based on the use of secondary sources and a joint vehicle classification survey conducted simultaneously expands the truck survey data. Estimates of total truck vehicle miles of travel are generated and used as the basis for expanding the results from the truck survey. This abstract appears in a compendium of conference papers.
