Accession Number: 00637741
Record Type: Monograph
Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: This Circular contains the proceedings of a Transportation Research Board workshop on human factors highway safety issues. The workshop, held in Washington, D.C., on April 1-3, 1992, was conducted with the cooperation and sponsorship of the Federal Highway Administration. The objective of this workshop was to develop a set of prioritized research problem statements in the area of human factors highway safety that could be made available to federal and state agencies, academia, and the research community at large. Included in this Circular are the keynote address, background papers, and break-out session reports. There were four break-out sessions, covering the following areas: Rear-End Collisions; Intersectional Accidents; Run-off-the-Road Accidents; and Head-On Collisions. Also included in the Circular is a final section entitled "Cross-Cutting Issues", which includes two issues not addressed by the workshop (driver response times to hazards and driver fatigue) and additional problem titles.
