Accession Number: 00636500
Record Type: Component
Availability: American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) 444 North Capitol Street, NW Abstract: This paper describes a cooperative project underway in North Carolina between the Department of Transportation, the Department of Cultural Resources, and the Department of Environment, Health, and Natural Resources. The joint project involves utilization of GIS technology to facilitate accomplishment of the State's ambitious Transportation Improvement Program while minimizing the impacts on the natural and cultural resources. It is anticipated that this effort will be the basis for future cooperative GIS projects between the participating agencies and will also serve as a model for joint GIS activities throughout state government.
