Abstract:

This conference presentation discusses high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) facilities from the State perspective. Using the example of HOV facilities in Seattle, Washington, HOV facilities are shown to be energy efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally sound. Also discussed is HOV facilities funding at the State level. Concluding remarks concern the need for cooperative efforts among federal, state, and local authorities for HOV facilities to be successful.
