Abstract:

This conference presentation provides a brief overview of some of the recent activities in the Public Works Committee, U.S. House of Representatives, that relate to high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) facilities. It is pointed out that the congressional perspective has been that HOV facilities are a local issue, and that there must be a continued and cooperative effort at the local level to show that the local governments have the resources, are accountable, and can make their transportation programs work.
