Transportation Research Circular No. 355 contains an edited transcript of the Group 1 Council session on research needs at the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting in January 1988, along with selected charts used at that session, updated information on the NCHRP 20-24 project taken from the final report of October 1988, and the Executive Summary of a Task Force Report on the status of the NCHRP program completed in February 1988. This Summary draws together the key points of the presentations and reports, and suggests some next steps in addressing the issue of research funding.
