Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: Laboratory model test results for the ultimate pullout resistance of square vertical anchors in saturated clay are presented. Pullout resistance can be expressed in the form of a nondimensional breakout factor. The breakout factor increases with the embedment ratio of the anchor up to a maximum value and remains constant thereafter. A tentative empirical procedure, based on the laboratory test results, for estimating anchor pullout resistance is outlined.
