Title: IMPACTS OF DESIGN AND SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ON ACTUAL WICK DRAIN CONSTRUCTION
Accession Number: 00459538
Record Type: Component
Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: This paper which focuses on the design and specification effects on the unit cost of wick drain installation, also notes the importance of (1) the unit cost as compared with the total cost, and (2) the various methods of wick drain installation. Factors affecting the total cost of wick drains are tabulated, as are also the methods of wick drain installation. The factors affecting the unit cost of installing the drains are also tabulated. The paper then dicusses 4 areas where design and specifications most affect installation costs: working surface; soil characteristics, or more specifically, potential obstructions; specifications; and design criteria (project size, depth, material, method).
