Title: NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION'S (NYSDOT) BASIS OF ACCEPTANCE AND SPECIFICATION FOR PREFABRICATED WICK DRAINS
Accession Number: 00459536
Record Type: Component
Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: An extensive 3-stage testing program of 13 prefabricated wick drains formed the basis of acceptance and specification for the use of prefabricated wick drains on NYSDOT projects. The 3 stages of testing included large diameter consolidation (LDC), crimp, and lateral pressure tests. This paper gives a summary of the test program. This is followed by the NYSDOT wick drain specification which is an "approved list" type of specification. The ten drains which were determined to be acceptable for use on NYSDOT projects in 1985 are listed. Construction details are provided as well as the basis of payment. Field experiences are recounted.
