Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: The author reviews, from a supplier's viewpoint, some of his own experiences with emergency preparedness during the last few years. The conclusions are that the development of detailed state-level plans, the dialogue between the states and the petroleum industry, and the willingness on the part of all sides to communicate, have been the key element of progress, that the new environment of the free market left some uncertainty in the minds of many state officials and metropolitan planners, that the Department of Energy will play a coordinating role, but that the real responsibility for energy contingency planning has been moved to the state level.
