Title: Sensitivity of J-Integral to Mix Properties and Coring Directions
Accession Number: 01697369
Record Type: Component
Abstract: This study evaluated fracture resistance of seven mixes using Semicircular Bending (SCB) test and correlated it with mix properties and coring directions. The effect of binder grade, amount, and other mix parameters on the ultimate load, deformation to ultimate load, strain energy and J-integral are evaluated for both vertical and horizontal directions. It is observed that mix with soft binder allows higher level of deformation before initiation of cracking. J-integral shows increasing trend with the increase of effective binder content. The ultimate load in SCB test shows good correlation with the indirect tensile strength (ITS) of the mix. Displacement and strain energy for horizontal cores are higher than vertical cores. Four out of seven mixes show J-integral values higher for horizontal cores than vertical cores. Three mix showed similar J-integral values.
