Abstract:

The winners of the 10th annual Communicating Concepts to John and Jane Q. Public Competition focused on the connection between transportation and public health. Contest winners included Trailnet from St. Louis, Missouri, with a traffic calming pop-up demonstration program; Northwest Air Quality Communicators' activity book, "Nora and Wes: Our Quest for Clean Air"; the Clear the Air Challenge, a Utah Department of Transportation (DOT) and partners program encouraging reducing emissions by choosing alternatives to driving alone; and an infographic addressing transportation modes, pollution, and health submitted by the Southern California Environmental Health Sciences Center and Children’s Environmental Health Center at the University of Southern California.
