Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic hit just as Nebraska Department of Transportation's (DOT’s) 2020 construction season was getting into gear. That meant moving quickly to adapt to directed health measures (DHMs) while pushing forward on projects. The author, Nebraska DOT's assistant state construction engineer, relates how the department successfully responded and the lessons learned in the process. Many manual processes were converted to electronic to avoid close contact between personnel. Responses to DHM requirements included: implementing building information modeling, livestreaming contract bidding, e-construction initiatives, e-ticketing, and remote work.
