Through some qualitative and quantitative analysis experiments, this paper discovered and confirmed that there exist structural defects on the weaving speed predicted model of the 2010 HCM. The quantitative analysis showed the calculation error of weaving speed was as high as 40% and the average error was greater than 20%. The qualitative analysis showed that the predicted results of weaving flow speed were greater than the no weaving speed, which was not consistent with actual operation characteristics. This study supposed the defect attributed to the traffic flow rate was not considered as a parameter in the predicted model of weaving speed. A modified model has been proposed to make up for the defect. The model calibration and verification work followed shows that both the prediction accuracy and the character are better than the current models
