Abstract:

Urban rail transit (URT) system contains not only spatial characteristic but also temporal characteristic, leading to passenger path set that passengers can choose to travel being influenced by both space and time. Time variation can cause such problem that some valid paths in the set are infeasible in reality. An algorithm for path set generation is proposed to solve the problem under both space and time constraints. It is developed on the basis of train trajectory searching algorithm for URT and space-time prism. The train trajectory searching algorithm allows one to obtain passenger’s travel trajectories by trains. Within the space-time prism, these trajectories constitute an accessible region from origin and a passing region from destination. A set of valid paths is then generated from the intersection of the two regions. Finally, Shanghai Metro Network is taken as an example to illustrate the correctness and effectiveness of the algorithm. Results show the proposed algorithm can generate new valid paths and delete invalid paths in comparison with conventional methods, which can be used in URT passenger trip planning and passenger flow analysis.
