Abstract:

This study presents a research framework for and analyzes the demand of a bike share program under university campus settings. Bike share programs have recently become popular but limited studies have been conducted on the demand analysis of the program. Some studies focused on the demand under urban settings. Only a few have evaluated the demand on university campuses. This study analyzed the traffic characteristics of Texas A&M University campus, animated the traffic flow during the daytime hour, and studied the suitability of the existing as well as the improved transportation infrastructures for the bike share program. In addition, a campus travel survey was conducted to examine the willingness to join the bike share program and to assess the potential demand.
