The tool relies on the assumptions that the levels of imported vector and vector-borne disease risk via air travel are related to the presence of flight routes connected to endemic regions, the level of traffic between the origin and destination cities, and the monthly climatic similarity between origin and destination. The tool focuses on four vector-borne diseases—malaria, dengue, yellow fever, and chikungunya; describes the relative importation risk for the selected airport; and provides suggestions for mitigation. In addition to the CD-ROM-based version, the tool and user's guide is available online.
Supplemental Notes: The tool was enhanced in June 2017.
