This Toolkit is focused on the design and assembly of routine bridges using Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) techniques that would be of value to engineers, owners and contractors new to ABC. It complements other publications on ABC, which should be consulted for more specific information on topics outside the scope of this Toolkit. The Toolkit describes standardized approaches to designing and constructing complete bridge systems for rapid renewals. The report includes design standards and design examples for complete prefabricated bridge systems, and it proposes specification language for ABC systems, suitable for future inclusion in the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) Bridge Design and Construction Specifications.
