Title: Practical Location Planning Method for Urban Transfer Centers
Accession Number: 01332893
Record Type: Component
Abstract: The goal of this paper is to present a methodology to optimize the location for urban transfer centers. To fulfill this end, the authors prevent a two-step planning method, and it consists of macroscopic location planning and microscopic location planning. The authors present two concepts: location importance indicator, and node importance indicator. Macroscopic location planning mainly focuses on the analysis of location importance indicator of traffic analysis zone (TAZ). Location importance indicators are calculated by taking into account the spatial distance and passengers' origin-destination (OD) volume between traffic analysis areas. Microscopic location planning focuses on the analysis of node importance indicator. These nodes belong to the set of location options in each TAZ. The node importance indicator is calculated according to the strength of connectivity. The set of location options in each TAZ of transfer center comprises nodes that meet the demand of land use for construction. On the basis of the result of two-step planning analysis, the planning scheme of transfer centers location is put forward. The method of location planning for transfer centers in metropolis is practical, and it has a better maneuverability. A case study is given to demonstrate the practicability of the proposed method.
