Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: Specialists in the Transportation Research Board's Technical Activities Division identify current issues, collect and generate information on the issues, and disseminate the information throughout the transportation community. A major source of this information is the Transportation Research Board's annual field visit program. In this report, highlights and findings from the Transportation Research Board's 2009 annual field visit program reveal that leaders and staff in transportation agencies across the country are applying dedication and innovation to serve their customers effectively, despite unprecedented financial challenges. The efforts are yielding progress toward key goals, from reducing traffic deaths to improving the environment--and in the long term, to livability and sustainability.
