Title: Social Networking in the Test Mode at State Agencies
Accession Number: 01329061
Record Type: Component
Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: A survey of state departments of transportation (DOTs) shows that access to social media or Web 2.0 sites is not universal. The survey responses from 34 state DOTs revealed that 20 block Facebook, 15 block Twitter and Ning, 10 block LinkedIn, and 7 block Google Groups. The slow adoption of social media by state DOTs parallels that of the Internet. Many states restricted use of the Internet until officials realized its value in the workplace and created policies for its appropriate use.
