Title:
Solving Maintenance Issues in Design and Construction
Accession Number:
01138096
Abstract:
The maintenance and operation of a highway system includes many different tasks on major assets such as pavements and bridges as well as many other corollary tasks on the roadside and other appurtenances. Generally the better the materials that are used in the original construction, the longer lasting they are and the lower the life-cycle maintenance costs will be. This paper explores the many relationships between the design of a highway facility, the selection of the materials that go into the facility and the quality of construction on the life-cycle cost of the facility.
