Abstract:

This paper presents a methodology developed to adjust and calibrate the Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG) distress models to local conditions in Argentina, to be used in rigid pavement structural design. A wide range of climatic conditions was covered by selecting test sections of rigid pavements located in different regions of the country. Local road agencies provided information about pavements structure, and traffic volume and load spectra. Field distress data and IRI was collected during the study, and the data was processed using MEPDG software. Finally, calibration factors were determined for the different distress models of rigid pavements. The results show that climatic conditions in Argentina seem to be very influential on the values obtained for calibration factors.
