Abstract:

This collection of 18 papers deals with the following aspects of pavements: pavement rehabilitation; pavement strength and deformation characteristics; and pavement surface properties–vehicle interaction. Specific topics discussed include bonded concrete pavement overlays, ultrathin bonded wearing courses, rubblized pavement, recycled asphalt base courses, cold-in-place pavement recycling, falling weight deflectometer data analysis, asphalt pavement stripping detection, nonlinear pavement system responses, measuring three-dimensional permanent strains in asphalt concrete, forwardcalculation of pavement moduli, Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide rutting models, backcalculation analysis of jointed concrete pavements, inertial profilers, wavelet analysis of energy content in pavement roughness and dynamic axle loads, prediction of hydroplaning, and pavement grooving for wet-skidding control.
