Abstract:

In this paper we analyze how the physical distribution of merchandise from a pharmaceutical company is managed in the city of Zaragoza (Spain). The delivery problem is modeled as a VRPSTW problem while specific software was developed to identify bottlenecks in the distribution and to improve distribution costs without affecting service to the clients. As a novelty, we propose the use of urban micro platforms to improve the service, reduce costs and to facilitate traffic in the center of the city.
