Abstract:

Parking management refers to various policies and programs that result in more efficient use of parking resources. This paper describes problems with current parking planning practices, specific parking management strategies and how they can be implemented, and the savings and benefits that can result from improved management. Cost-effective parking management programs can typically reduce parking requirements by 20-50% compared with conventional standards, providing many economic, social and environmental benefits.
