Abstract:

Bayesian networks are a marriage between probabilistic theory and graph theory. In a Bayesian network, the graphical network topology specifies the model structure and the conditional probabilities provide the mechanism to represent the dependence relationships between variables. This paper proposes a Bayesian network model to address travel mode choice problem and discover how trip makers’ travel decision behaviors are affected by underlying socio-economic and level-of-service factors.
