Abstract:
This Transportation Research Record contains 20 papers dealing with three topics - pedestrians, bicycles, and developing countries. The papers on pedestrians address the following subjects: the street environment, monitoring pedestrian movement, pedestrian scramble signals, prioritizing pedestrian investments, pedestrian countdown signals, design of crossings at signalized intersections, blind pedestrians, roundabout pedestrian crossings, pedestrian modeling tool, driver perception of pedestrian rights, and pedestrian flow modeling. The papers on bicycles discuss bicycle route safety rating, commute rates on urban trails, bicycle commuting frequency, and road and trail user characteristics and safety. The papers on developing countries address hazard rating of accident-prone highway sections, a barrier-free map, commuters in Hyderabad, India, and urban network operation enhancement.
