Title: RECENT ADVANCES IN AVIATION NOISE MODELING
Accession Number: 00924049
Record Type: Component
Availability: N/AFind a library where document is available Abstract: This workshop presentation discusses recent advances in aviation noise modeling, reviews the traditional approaches to noise modeling, lists current simulation models for the analysis of noise, and demonstrates the NoiseMap simulation model (NMSIM) and NMSIM-generated animation of air tour aircraft noise over the Grand Canyon. Suggested general improvements to technology include the following: (a) replace simple algorithms with modern models, (b) make use of modern air absorption standards, (c) incorporate spectra in routine use of models, (d) account for terrain and topography, and (e) account for the weather. The presentation also classifies current simulation models by different categories.
