Presented as a guidebook, it provides reference information on land use planning and its integration into the multimodal transportation planning process. The guidebook is intended to improve the practice of land use forecasting and to provide perspectives on the tools and procedures available to practitioners in evaluating the land use impacts of transportation services and improvements. The guidebook should be especially valuable to state departments of transportation, metropolitan planning organizations, and local transportation planners as well as other practitioners concerned with assessing transportation impacts on land use. The guidebook will also be a useful educational resource into the concepts, tools, and procedures currently employed to integrate transportation planning and land use planning.
